WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the following statement in response to a new report by the House Energy & Commerce and Ways & Means Committees, entitled “Joint Congressional Investigative Report into the Source of Funding for the ACA’s Cost Sharing Reduction Program.”

“This damaging report makes it very clear that the the Obama Administration abused its power and intentionally violated the law to illegally prop up Obamacare and bail out insurance companies. This is yet another example of this administration’s disdain for the rule of law, and we will hold them accountable. The Obama Administration needs to immediately comply with the subpoenas issued by Congress and turn over the documents related to their illegal use of taxpayer dollars.”

The New York Times reported this morning that the “extensive investigation” uncovered that the Obama Administration “knowingly spent billions in health care dollars without proper congressional authority and went to ‘great lengths’ to impede congressional scrutiny of the money,” which was spent to prop up Obamacare and bail out insurance companies.
