WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement regarding the Senate confirmation of Ryan Zinke as Secretary of the Interior.
“Congratulations to my friend and former House colleague Ryan Zinke on being confirmed as our next Secretary of the Interior. Ryan is an American hero who served our country with distinction as a Navy SEAL, and he will continue to serve us well in this important new role.
“Ryan is not only a strong proponent of responsibly developing America’s vast energy resources, he also understands that producing energy and protecting the environment are not mutually exclusive. I was glad to host him on my annual Offshore Energy Tour in 2015, when we traveled to a production platform in the Gulf of Mexico to see firsthand how American oil and gas are safely developed, and also discussed the importance of revenue sharing so Louisiana can restore our coast while strengthening America’s energy security.
“I know Ryan will continue to be a champion of American energy as a key figure in the Trump Administration, and I look forward to working closely with him to develop our resources, create good jobs, and grow our economy.”
