WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement following House passage of H.R. 26, legislation to reauthorize and reform the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA). TRIA passed the House 416-5.

“The tragic events in Paris this morning remind us that terrorism remains a real threat in today’s world,” Rep. Scalise said. “Today’s bipartisan vote to reauthorize the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act brings much-needed reforms to reduce taxpayer liability, encourages private sector participation in the market, and provides American job creators with the long-term certainty they need to expand and grow our economy. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to quickly take up and pass this important legislation.”
