WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement today regarding Senate passage of critical American trade legislation (TPA). The bill now heads to President Obama’s desk for his signature.
“Today’s bipartisan Senate action to pass critical American trade legislation sent a strong message to our allies around the world – America is the global economic leader, and that we—not China—are setting the rules of the road on trade. TPA will give U.S. workers a competitive edge, so that we can create jobs and grow a healthy economy here at home. I urge President Obama to quickly sign this critical legislation into law in order to help create good-paying jobs, grow our economy, and strengthen our national security.”
