WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the following statement regarding House passage of H.Res. 461, which created a select panel within the House Energy and Commerce Committee for the purpose of investigating abortion practices and the policies regarding fetal tissue procurement.
“Life, our most precious gift from God, is the first right enumerated by our Founders. Serious questions have been raised in recent months about the practices of some organizations involving the sale of aborted baby parts. The House must have a thorough and serious investigation. Today’s action to create the Select Investigative Panel Committee on Energy and Commerce will ensure that the good and important oversight work of the House continues as we seek answers to the important questions surrounding these grisly practices. It is our duty to find the truth, and to work tirelessly to protect innocent human life.”
