    • Democrats call climate change ‘our World War II,’ but their plans to combat it reads more like a war on American families and American jobs.
  2. Rep. Hank Johnson: “There has been a steady [stream], almost like termites can get into a residence and eat before you know that you’ve been eaten up and you fall in on yourself,” comparing Jewish Israeli settlers to termites.
  3. Rep. Ilhan Omar: defending her tweet in which she says Israel has “hypnotized the world” and she “hopes people will see their evil doings,” says “I don’t know how my comments would be offensive to Jewish Americans.
    • Speaker Pelosi later appointed Rep. Omar to the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
    • Majority Leader Steny Hoyer: “I don’t know that I draw the conclusion, however, that those attacking those two members are correct that they [Tlaib and Omar] are anti-Semitic. I don’t accept that premise.”
  4. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler on President Trump: “I view this president and his conduct as the greatest threat to the democratic system and to the constitutional government since the Civil War.
    • Our economy, military, and international standing are stronger than they’ve been in decades thanks to President Trump’s policies.
  5. Rep. Ilhan Omar: “It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” referencing a common anti-Semitic trope that Jewish money is behind U.S. political support for Israel.
  6. Former Representative and failed Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke on if he would tear down El Paso’s border wall: “Absolutely, I’d take the wall down.”

  8. Democrats on the Education and Labor Committee prevented tipped workers from testifying that they would lose their jobs if a $15 minimum wage was implemented.

  9. Rep. Ilhan Omar: Not to be outdone by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s calls for a 70% tax rate, Rep. Omar calls for rates on taxpayers at “70 percent, 80 percent, we’ve had it as high as 90 percent. So, that’s a place we can start,” to fund expansive government programs like the Green New Deal.

    • Speaker Pelosi represents a state that has benefited from border walls for decades. In San Diego, where there has been a border wall since 1992, illegal traffic has dropped 92 percent over the last 23 years. Walls work.

  46. Freshman Representative Donna Shalala called for a congressional hearing after news of the FBI’s Operation Varsity Blues investigations broke. However, Rep. Shalala herself was president of the University of Miami when a massive college sports scandal erupted on her watch.
  47. Freshman Representative Xochitl Torres Small said there was not “a national emergency, or a crisis” but the editorial board of the Albuquerque Journal quickly rebutted her saying she was “wrong.”

  48. Rep. Ilhan Omar blamed the United States for the collapse of the socialist Venezuelan economy, which is run by the murderous dictator Nicolás Maduro, saying “a lot of the policies that we have put in place has kind of helped lead the devastation in Venezuela.
