Creating Clarity and Transparency in Food Safety

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 1599, the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015.

“Consumers and producers alike lose with a confusing state-by-state patchwork of food labeling standards,” Scalise said. “This bill provides clarity and transparency by establishing a voluntary national labeling standard, reaffirming the FDA’s role in keeping food safe, and keeping food affordable.”
