WASHINGTON, D.C.—Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement today after the House voted to pass H.R. 1734, the Improving Coal Combustion Residuals Regulation Act of 2015:

“For too long, vague, unnecessary and harmful Washington regulations have threatened the more than 316,000 hardworking Americans whose jobs depend on the coal ash industry,” Scalise said. “This legislation sets clear parameters that empower states to protect jobs, as well as our environment and public health, and I’m glad the House passed it with a bipartisan vote.”
