WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 692, the Default Prevention Act.
“As the debt limit approaches, the Default Prevention Act removes from the table the threat of defaulting on our nation’s debt, and instead allows Congress to focus on solving the underlying issue driving our growing debt – Washington’s spending problem,” Scalise said. “Reining in Washington’s out-of-control spending and restoring fiscal sanity continues to be among my top priorities in Congress. I applaud and thank Congressman Tom McClintock for his leadership on this issue. I urge the Senate to quickly pass this critical legislation and send it to the President’s desk for his signature.”
Scalise is a cosponsor of the Default Prevention Act.
