WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today released the following statement after President Obama’s Administration proposed the first major hydraulic fracturing regulations on federal lands.
“Today’s proposed federal regulations on hydraulic fracturing represent yet another attack on American jobs by President Obama, and continue his attack on American-made energy,” Scalise said. “The President loves touting the dramatic increase in oil and gas production in the United States over the last few years, but he conveniently fails to mention the fact that those production gains have been made almost exclusively on state and private lands. Today’s proposed regulations will surely lead to an even larger drop in production on federal lands. Considering that states already successfully regulate fracking, the last thing the American people need is the heavy hand of the federal government killing good jobs and stifling American energy production with more of their radical regulations.”
