WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 2029, the Fiscal Year 2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill.

“A strong national defense includes the necessary funding to train and house our brave men and women in uniform, while also making sure we provide the necessary resources to give the best care to our veterans and wounded warriors who are injured while defending our freedoms,” Rep. Scalise said. “I’m also pleased with the inclusion of strong oversight language to help root out the culture of corruption and backlogs at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Our military veterans have earned and deserve nothing but the highest quality of care. I thank Chairmen Rogers and Dent for their hard work in passing this bill through the House.”
