WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) a $45 million Infrastructure For Rebuilding America grant to replace the Belle Chasse Tunnel and Perez Bridge, critical infrastructure in Plaquemines Parish.

“I’m excited that Plaquemines Parish will soon benefit from this $45 million grant, and will now be able to move forward with the replacement of the Belle Chasse Tunnel and Perez Bridge, which are critical to daily commuters and hurricane evacuations. I applaud President Trump and Secretary Chao for their leadership on infrastructure investment and I look forward to continuing to work with the Trump Administration to improve other critical infrastructure projects throughout Southeast Louisiana,” said Whip Scalise.Â
