WASHINGTON, D.C.— House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) made the following statement regarding the House’s vote to go to conference with the Senate on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, following the Senate’s passage of the bill last week.
“With the House’s vote to go to conference with the Senate on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, we are moving even closer to getting historic tax relief over the finish line. While there are some differences between the House and Senate bill that we will work out in the conference committee, the basic principles remain the same: cutting taxes for hard-working families, lowering the corporate rate so we can make America competitive again and bring thousands of good jobs back home, and simplifying the tax code so much that more than 90% of families can do their taxes on a postcard!
“As we head into the new year, American families need this extra tax cut and boost to their paychecks more than ever, and I look forward to working to get the final bill to President Trump’s desk by Christmas so we can deliver this economic gift to American families.”
