NEW ORLEANS, La.—Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today joined WWL-TV (CBS New Orleans) to share the news that America’s self-imposed ban on crude oil exports has finally been lifted:
Scalise led the effort in Congress to lift the 40-year-old ban, using his seat at the leadership table to bring the issue to the forefront and build a coalition to pass legislation that eliminates the outdated policy once and for all. Lifting the ban will create jobs in Louisiana and throughout the nation, strengthen America’s energy independence and national security, and is even projected to lower prices at the pump for hardworking families.
