METAIRIE, LA. – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today released the following statement on the eleventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall in southeast Louisiana.

“The strength of Louisiana has always been embodied by the strength of our people. Our resilience, perseverance and unbreakable sense of community is as present today in the wake of this month’s devastating floods as it was in the days, weeks and months following Katrina’s tragic landfall. Eleven years after the devastation and hardship caused by Katrina, the people of southeast Louisiana are stronger and more resilient than ever. Today, as we honor and remember the lives lost and families impacted eleven years ago, as well as from the flooding this year, we continue to reflect on the dark days as we look toward a brighter, better and stronger future for Louisiana.”
