WASHINGTON—Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement today regarding the U.S. Department of Labor’s finalized overtime rule:
“President Obama’s radical overtime regulation actually hurts the very people he’s claiming to help,” Scalise said. “Far from lifting workers up, this rule will destroy thousands of middle-class management positions and deny advancement opportunities to workers who deserve better than President Obama’s latest attack on American jobs. Not only that, it will tie small-businesses up in government red tape and hurt American workers with lower wages, less workplace flexibility, and lost job growth. We need to be advancing policies that create more opportunities for hardworking Americans, not crushing those opportunities with one-size-fits-all regulations from unelected bureaucrats who are more interested in advancing their personal partisan agenda. I will continue to do everything in my power to push back against this administration’s job-killing agenda.”Â
