WASHINGTON, D.C.—Majority Whip Steve Scalise issued the following statement regarding the implementation of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran:
“The Obama Administration’s decision to lift sanctions on Iran is a dangerous act that rewards their hostile actions toward America and Israel, and will not stop their support for terrorism, end their human rights violations, or prevent them from gaining a pathway to a nuclear weapon.
“Iran’s actions in recent days are further proof that nothing has changed and reminds us why an overwhelming bipartisan coalition in the House voted against implementing this dangerous deal in the first place.
“In addition to clearing the way for the Iranian regime to obtain the pathway to a nuclear weapons program, President Obama’s dangerous deal turns over to Iran more than $100 billion in frozen assets that the administration itself admits will be used to fund terrorism.
“The House will continue using every tool we have to fight this deal and prevent a nuclear Iran.”
