WASHINGTON – House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement after the death of Phyllis Schlafly, a leader of the conservative movement and founder of Eagle Forum:

“I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing of conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly. During her 92 years of life, Phyllis served as a beacon of the conservative movement. She will always be remembered as one of the most influential conservative voices and unapologetic defenders of the constitution. Her devotion to the pro-life cause and family values were inspirational, and her hard work and principled legacy will surely live on. Jennifer and I offer our heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences to the Schlafly family during their time of grief.”
