“President Obama’s Justice Department has been scandalized by turning government settlements into taxpayer shakedowns — raiding money from settlements and funneling it to left-leaning special interest groups instead of the U.S. Treasury and deserving victims. These mandatory donations undermine our system of checks and balances and take money away from their intended purpose. The Stop Settlements Slush Funds Act holds the administration accountable and ensures that those who deserve the funds receive them. I applaud Chairman Goodlatte for bringing this important bill to the floor.”
