WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act continues to produce results, with Mission Produce becoming the latest company to pass on the savings they see under the bill to their employees in the form of a $1,000 bonus and a pay raise of $2/hour for hourly workers. The avocado distributor isn’t just putting all of their chips in the bonus basket, and is also investing in new facilities and technology to create new opportunities for their employees.

Mission Produce is in ‘lime’ with the over 400 other companies and counting that are announcing pay raises, over $3 billion in bonuses, better benefits, and more hiring for over 4 million Americans as a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

The Democrats’ false rhetoric appears to be toast, as now a majority of Americans approve of this bill and small businesses are expressing record levels of confidence due to tax reform.

Perhaps that’s why Congressional Democrats are in the pits, and are refusing to answer the question of whether they are in favor of repealing this bill that has increased the paychecks of 9 out of 10 Americans.

Ventura County Star: Mission Produce gives employees $1,000 Bonus

Mission Produce, an avocado distributor based in Oxnard, is rewarding employees in response to the recent federal tax cut.

“We are giving all our U.S.-based employees a $1,000 bonus,” President and CEO Steve Barnard said at a recent company meeting. “We applaud President Trump for spearheading the action needed to pass tax reform. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 created a meaningful impact on Mission’s business. We plan to invest the tax savings in new facilities and technology to create opportunities for the company and for our employees. It’s only fair that we share the benefits that tax reform will have on our business with our valued employees.”

The tax overhaul legislation, passed by Congress in December, reduced the U.S. corporate tax rate. In response to the newly passed tax reform, Mission said it has already increased its investment in new facilities and technology within the United States.

“We believe we are the first produce company to award employees with bonuses in response to the tax reform legislation,” said Tracy Malmos, chief people officer. “We are expanding production and distribution facilities across the United States and investing more at home than internationally. We recognize the hard work done by Congress in passing this landmark reform and expect the legislation to create significant opportunities for our employees.”

In addition to the $1,000 bonus, Mission said it has enacted a new hourly pay scale for its returning seasonal employees, increasing hourly wages by up to $2 an hour.
