WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced the 4.1 percent growth in the U.S. GDP today thanks in large part to increased consumer spending with Americans having 2.6 percent more disposable income.
“This impressive jump in GDP —the largest in nearly four years—proves that our tax cuts and regulatory reforms are working to create jobs and grow the economy. By standing up for hard-working families, we are showing what is possible when government gets out of the way and allows job creators to succeed. While Washington liberals warned that this would be “Armageddon” and refused to vote for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, we rejected their extremism and kept our promises, and the results are a huge win for families who just want a strong economy and an opportunity to achieve the American Dream.
