METAIRIE, LA—House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement regarding the FBI reopening its investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server:
“The FBI’s initial investigation made it clear that Secretary Clinton’s unlawful and extremely reckless handling of classified information continues to put America’s national security at risk. We are a nation of laws, and those laws should be applied equally to all Americans, regardless of their political connections. Today’s decision by the FBI to reopen this case is a critical step toward ensuring that elites like Secretary Clinton are held accountable by the same laws that apply to every other American. I urge the FBI to conduct this investigation in a fair, thorough, expeditious, and transparent manner.”
